The surrounding Area
​- The Creuse Region and the Limousin

Janaillat is in Creuse department of the Limousin, Nouvelle Aquitaine region of France, This region has an abundance of activities including walking, cycling, tennis, golf, horse riding, fishing, leisure lakes and historic sites. Further a field there is canoeing, kayaking, sailing, jet skiing, wakeboarding and water skiing. With such beautiful surroundings it is an ideal place for photography and painting.

Bourganeuf - Bourganeuf, a small medieval town with its Zizim Tower (story of the imprisoned Turkish Prince) guided tours in French, Dutch, English every week. Here you will also find supermarkets, cafes and restaurants, tourist information, pharmacy, banks and a petrol station. On Wednesday's, the market traders fill the town selling a variety of fresh local produce.

Isle de Vassivière - take the tourist train or taxi boat to visit the island, the hosts of an International Center for Contemporary and Landscape Art  Beaches, beautiful green area for picnics, secure children's games, bar, snack bar and music concert in the evening. Also the information centre from EDF about how the lake is used to make electricity. Allow a day to enjoy it!

 Lac Courtille in Gueret This picturesque lake is only 25 mins away. Ideal for picnics, swimming or a leisurely walk. Also here you can hire pedaloes and sailing boats. Throughout the summer the lake has loads of activities for all the family (Paddleboards, Mini Golf, Go Karts, Archery etc.)

'D'Arbre de Arbre' a tree top adventure course with several different routes suitable for all ages and heights, also Mini-Golf, both at Vauveix, next to Lac de Vassivière.

Labyrinth Geant  in Gueret is the largest permanent maze in the world. Another tourist attraction in Gueret is Les Loups de Chabrières where you are able to see wolves in their natural habitat. Gueret is the main town of the Creuse, where you'll find all the large supermarkets, shops, restaurants & cafes.

Lac de Vassivière -  this breathtaking lake is only a 45 minute drive away, the lake is one of Europe's largest man-made lakes and it has several beautiful clean sandy beaches. Perfect for swimming, fishing painting the wonderful scenery, and various walks, cycle paths and water sports.
